BBA Photography Prize 2024
Applicant must read and agree to all aspects of this page .
Applicant must be over 18 years old to enter the competition.
There are no restrictions based on age, training or nationality.
Artist/Photographer must not have exclusive representation with another gallery but can have non exclusive contracts.
Artist/Photographer must be the owner and the work(s) submitted are of their own origination. The artist must hold all moral and intellectual property rights. The artist will be responsible for any claim made by any third party in respect of the entry and to fully indemnify BBA and its sponsors in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person or entity by reason of your breaching any of the foregoing. BBA reserves the right, to disqualify any entry that does not comply with any of the above.
The image submitted must accurately portray the artwork/photographic work. The information and size given in the application form must be the size and format available for the exhibition.
We recommend that the artist takes out an insurance to cover the artwork during transportation. The art work is only insured during the exhibition by BBA.
The application fee for the submissions are set on the website and are non-refundable.
You will receive an invoice for your entry fee via email after you made your payment.
BBA reserves the right to reject applications of work that are deemed unsuitable for exhibition, be it explicit or antagonising, at our discretion.
Curation will be done by BBA Gallery. Production and presentation format will be agreed between curators and the artist. The artist agrees to the presentation options outlined on the BBA website. ( I.e. digital display or exhibition spot )
Artist confirms to have all art work ready and available by the end of the open call . It must be ready to send according to the curatorial decision and arrive onetime.
Production costs of the artworks incl. frames and shipping has to be covered by the artists.
All work submitted must be available exclusive for sale throughout the exhibition and four weeks after if sales are made through BBA Gallery We ask for exclusivity throughout the consignment period ( exhibition time and 3 months after ), meaning the artwork can only be sold through BBA. If you work in Editions please add the numbers )After this period the artwork and the right to sell will go to the artist unless otherwise arranged ( and the art work stays for sale at the Gallery )
Within sales, BBA will take payment from the buyer of the artwork and, once payment is received, will pay the artist minus 50% commission on total sales price. Gallery will receive 50% commission of the retail price, with 50% going to the artist. Artist / Photographer agrees to a consistent retail prize. ie. no matter where the artwork is sold, it always has the same retail prize.
We respect your rights and do not claim copyright for Photographs submitted. The artist will retain full copyright. By uploading your artworks, you hereby consent that BBA Gallery and partners of the Photography Prize, can use the images for the promotion on social media via organic and paid advertising. When possible BBA gallery will try to tag your full name or your social media account next to your work on BBA paid and organic social media channels. Your image might be used for promotion of either you as the artist or for a BBA promotion of current and future projects.
You acknowledge your responsibility for protecting your entry against misuse by third parties, through means such as the embedding of metadata. BBA (and its partners) can assume no responsibility and is not liable for any misuse of your work by third parties
The artists give permission that images / photos taken from and during the opening and the exhibition can be used for current and future promotion by the gallery and our partners.
The artist hereby grants BBA a non-exclusive, royalty-free license in each entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described above.
The applicant agrees that their email data will be used by BBA and their sponsors to inform them about future opportunities, updates and news.
BBA reserves the right to change, or modify the prize or jury members at any time before the end of the award, but will make sure to inform all entrants.
The artist agrees to the final decision made by the Jury and the BBA Gallery. The judges decision is final.
We ask you, the artist and applicant, to arrange the collection of the artwork should you be selected for the exhibition. You must collect the artwork within 28 days of the exhibition closing or arrange a return posting. We will pack the artwork after the exhibition ready for collection or posting. Cost has to be covered by the artist.
By entering work into the open call, shortlisted artists agree to be contacted at any point pre and during the exhibition. Please ensure you provide us with correct email addresses and telephone numbers and notify us should these change.
Artist agrees to try their best to be present during the opening events
Shortlisted artist will be required to read carefully and agree to the exhibition participation agreement detailing their obligations for being shortlisted/exhibited and promoted. (to be sent out after nomination)
The winner will receive a second contract for the solo shows.
BBA can not accept any entries without correct submission or after the deadline.
Final submission deadline is extended to 15th of July midnight 2024
Relatives of the jury members, gallery employees or any artists already represented by the BBA Gallery cannot apply.
