BBA Made in Berlin Art Award 2025
Applicant must read and agree to all aspects of this page.
Applicant must be over 18 years old to enter the competition.
There are no restrictions based on age, training or nationality.
Artist must not have exclusive representation with another gallery but can have non exclusive contracts.
Artist must be the owner and the work(s) submitted are of their own origination. The artist must hold all moral and intellectual property rights. The artist will be responsible for any claim made by any third party in respect of the entry and to fully indemnify BBA and its sponsors in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person or entity by reason of your breaching any of the foregoing. BBA reserves the right, to disqualify any entry that does not comply with any of the above.
The application fee for the submissions are set on the website and are non-refundable. It is an administrative fee, you will not be charged a fee to exhibit.
You will receive an invoice for your entry fee via email after you have made your payment.
BBA reserves the right to reject applications of work that are deemed unsuitable for exhibition, be it explicit or antagonising, at our discretion.
Curation will be done by BBA Gallery. The artist agrees to prepare and install their work in the agreed upon manner communicated with the curation team.
Artist confirms to have work ready and available and agrees to have it displayed at the exhibition.
Artist agrees to submit works that are under 100 x 100cm (or wall-based in the case of sculptures). The artist must provide the exhibition materials for their work (eg. frames, shelves, or for moving image works screens, headphones) and agree to install the work themselves on an agreed upon date.
All work submitted must be available exclusive for sale throughout the exhibition and four weeks after if sales are made through BBA Gallery.
Within sales, BBA will take payment from the buyer of the artwork and, once payment is received, will pay the artist minus 50% commission on total sales price. Gallery will receive 50% commission of the retail price, with 50% going to the artist. Artist agrees to a consistent retail prize. ie. no matter where the artwork is sold, it always has the same retail prize.
We respect your rights and do not claim copyright for artworks submitted. The artist will retain full copyright. By uploading your work, you hearby consent that BBA Gallery, BBA Prizes, the BBA brand, and our partners can use the images for the promotion on social media via organic and paid advertising. BBA Gallery will tag your full name or your social media account next to your work where possible. Your image might be used for promotion of either you as the artist or for a BBA promotion of current and future projects.
You acknowledge your responsibility for protecting your entry against misuse by third parties, through means such as the embedding of metadata. BBA (and its partners) can assume no responsibility and is not liable for any misuse of your work by third parties
The artist gives permission that images / photos taken from and during the opening and the exhibition can be used for current and future promotion by the gallery and our partners.
The artist gives permission for BBA to make small edits to images in order to meet the guidelines of social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook etc. For example, blurring body parts that these external bodies deem ‘inappropriate’.
The artist hereby grants BBA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence in each entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described above.
The applicant agrees that their email data will be used by BBA and their sponsors to inform them about future opportunities, updates and news.
BBA reserves the right to change, or modify the prize or jury members at any time before the end of the award, but will make sure to inform all entrants.
The artist agrees to the final decision made by the Jury and the BBA Gallery. The judges decision is final.
By entering work into the open call, shortlisted artists agree to be contacted at any point pre and during the exhibition. Please ensure you provide us with correct email addresses and telephone numbers and notify us should these change.
BBA can not accept any entries without correct submission or after the deadline.
Final submission deadline is 28th of April 2025 midnight CET
Relatives of the jury members, gallery employees or any artists already represented by the BBA Gallery cannot apply.
